Maya is hosting a special Banfi Wine & Casamigos Tequila Event this Saturday, June 15^th starting at 7:30 p.m.

Priced at just $40 per person, the event will feature a tasting of six savory and robust wines and the chance to interact with Banfi Wine Maker Sebastián Rodríguez and Chef Sandoval. Guests will also have a chance to enjoy Casamigos Tequila, an ultra-premium tequila, launched in January 2013, by actor George Clooney, bar and restaurant mogul, Rande Gerber and Discovery Land Company founder Mike Meldman.

Featured wines will include Banfi’s Marqués de Casa Concha Cabernet Sauvignon and the Marqués de Concha Carmenere. Casamigos will be pouring its Blanco and Reposado tequilas.

Guests can also enjoy a sampling of Maya’s menu items, including Ceviche Nikkei, Smoked Swordfish Won Ton Tacos, Smoked Pork Belly with plantain puree and truffle achiote sauce and New York Strip with crab mash and truffle chimichurri.

Maya by Chef Richard Sandoval now open!

We are thrilled to announce that Maya, a Modern Mexican Kitchen & Tequila Bar by Chef Richard Sandoval, is now open. 

Offering an upbeat, casual dining experience, Maya’s approachable menu features Chef Sandoval’s authentic Mexican flavors, blending traditional recipes with contemporary techniques to create dishes and cocktails that are familiar, fantastic and affordable. Fresh ingredients will be sourced seasonally from Maya’s on-site garden.

Maya’s menu features four types of Guacamole made table side, including Tuna Tartare and Bacon, as well as Mahi Mahi Ceviche, Queso Fundido and Chicken Flautas. Chef’s Specials include Lobster & Shrimp Yucatan, Colorado Bass, Carne Asada and Slow Roasted Pork Carnitas. Maya also offers three types of Mole Dinner – Poblano, a classic mole of Puebla, Mexico; Pipian with toasted pumpkin seeds, tomatillos and cilantro and Amarillo, a vibrant blend of spices, hoja santa and chilhuacles amarillos.

Beaver Creek Blues, Brews & BBQ

Join us this weekend in Beaver Creek for the annual Blues, Brews & BBQ Festival, the unofficial launch of summertime in the mountains! Exciting Restaurant News: Maya debuting at The Westin Riverfront in June

We are pleased to share that Chef Richard Sandoval is transforming Cima into a Vail Valley outpost of his flagship concept - Maya, a Modern Mexican Kitchen & Tequileria.

Maya will debut at the resort this June. During the transition, The Lift will be serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.

“We are very excited to transform Cima into Maya at The Westin Riverfront because it encompasses everything that our guests and locals want – a hip, inviting space with amazing food and cocktails,” said Westin Riverfront General Manager John Evans. “And it definitely helps that Maya and Chef Sandoval already have such a strong international following.”

Driven by demand from both resort guests and locals for a more upbeat, casual dining experience, Maya’s approachable menu will feature Chef Sandoval’s authentic Mexican flavors, blending traditional recipes with contemporary techniques to create dishes and cocktails that are familiar, fantastic and affordable.

Maya’s menu will showcase Chef Sandoval’s vibrant take on traditional Mexican recipes using  high quality ingredients. There will be an extensive menu of guacamoles, with selections like Tuna Tartare and Chicharrones with Heirloom Tomatoes. Signature dishes will include Lobster & Shrimp Yucatan, traditional Mexican chicken and pork braises and Carne Asada.  Fresh ingredients will continue to be sourced seasonally from Maya’s on-site garden.

The renovated space will also feature a handmade Tortilla Station and a bar and lounge offering more than 100 agave-based spirits and house-infused tequilas. Led by Beverage Director Rob Calfee, the Maya Bar will offer handcrafted margaritas and cocktails, as well as personal bottle storage.

Maya New York - Chef Sandoval’s flagship restaurant – recently celebrated its 15-year anniversary with a complete redesign and expansion to include a Tequileria Maya. Maya Dubai, which opened at Le Royal Meridien Dubai in 2006, and Tamayo in downtown Denver, which opened in 2001, also recently underwent major renovations.

“While diners have loved Maya New York for more than 15 years, it was time to refresh and put the “modern” back in our Modern Mexican approach,” said Chef Sandoval. “The new Maya at The Westin Riverfront will allow us to share this flagship concept and its delicious flavor combinations with another vibrant community.”

New Athletic Club Director

The Athletic Club at The Westin is pleased to announce that it has promoted Missy Lacy to the position of Club Director. Missy has served as the Club’s Director of Membership since October 2011. Final Beaver Creek Snowshoe Series Race

Next Sunday, March 3^rd, enjoy the final race in this year’s Beaver Creek Snowshoe Series, which is open to everyone from first-time snowshoers to trained athletes, plus kids of all ages! Talons Challenge Registration

Registration is going on now for the 10^th annual Talons Challenge – where only the best will ski more than 24,000 vertical feet of Black Diamond and Double Black Diamond runs on Beaver Creek’s legendary World Cup Birds of Prey, Grouse Mountain and Larkspur Bowl on Saturday, March 2nd.

Registration is only $35 in advance and space is limited to 1,500 registrants – so register early and secure your spot.

Get ready for the big day at the Athletic Club at The Westin with our Winter Sports Conditioning class on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. – we’ll help you develop leg strength and endurance!! Barre Fitness Certification Workshop

The Athletic Club at The Westin is offering a Barre Fitness Certification Workshop for instructors this Saturday, Feb. 23.

The workshop, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., will offer Definitive Barre Fitness Certification, a nationally recognized program that is approved by the American Fitness & Aerobics Association (AFAA). This workshop will train employees as elite Barre Instructors. The Athletic Club is also hosting a Barre Master Class on Friday at 5 p.m. that is open to public at a cost of $20 per person.

Instructors must meet several pre-requisites to participate in the certification course, including: 

• Must currently hold, or be enrolled to receive a certification from a Nationally recognized Fitness Association (AFAA, ACE etc.) within six months after DBF Certification
• Must take one Barre Class from either Elizabeth Sullivan, Marisa Malzone, Elizabeth Vino or Randi Coy prior to attending the certification
• Must have rhythm and be able to count to the beat of music
• Background in dance, Pilates, yoga, Zumba, group exercise preferred

The class will be taught by Denver-based Definitive Barre Fitness, LLC co-founders Elizabeth Vino and Randi Coy. A former ballerina, Vino has been teaching dance since age 15 and has taught adults, children in Pre-Ballet, Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Creative Movement and Barre. Coy, a nationally certified group fitness instructor, teaches a variety of fitness classes, including spin, boxing, kickboxing, mat Pilates, yoga, circuit training and sculpting

Westin Riverfront Fire & Ice Fireworks Extravaganza

For the first time ever, the Town of Avon – which is famous for its Independence Day celebration and accompanying fireworks display - will blast off more than 10,000 shells of fireworks this President’s Day weekend with“The Westin Riverfront Fire & Ice in Nottingham Park” this Sunday starting at 3 p.m.

Attendees of The Westin Riverfront Fire & Ice can enjoy an ice carving competition, a huge ice bonfire,  balloon sculptors, fire and light hula-hoop artists and live music from Turntable Review.  Stay cozy by the fire pits and in the warming huts while enjoying a hearty bowl of chili and a hot drink. Super Sunday at The Westin Riverfront!

What better way to enjoy the big game then after a day of powder skiing?? For the 2^nd year in a row, we will be hosting a football viewing party in our lobby. We will set up three 50” TVs around the lobby and in front of the main portrait window will have a large 7’ x 7’ HD projection screen - it’s the one day of the year that we block our fabulous Beaver Creek Mountain views! Cima will be serving up tons of great apps, Colorado microbrews and hand-crafted cocktails - hope to see you there!

Beaver Creek Snowshoe Series

This Sunday, February 3^rd join Beaver Creek for the 2^nd race in the Snowshoe Series – which draws everyone from first-time snowshoers to world class snowshoe athletes, plus kids of all ages! Events include a competitive 10K, the Fun 5K and a Kids 1K run and is followed by a post-event party on the plaza. The race starts at 11am and is $30 in advance or $35 on race day. Dinner at The Lift

We are thrilled to announce that The Lift is now serving dinner, offering another option for families and those looking for easy, casual dining.

Dinner is served daily from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Lift’s menu features a wide variety of starters, soups and salads, including Potato skins, Chicken Wings, All-Natural Beef Chili and Cobb Salad. Families love the selections of pizzas and sandwiches, including an Angus Beef Burger for $15, Barbecued Pulled Pork Sandwich for $14 and Fish Tacos for $16. Entrees include Roasted Chicken Penné with cherry tomatoes and roasted garlic for $18, Braised Shortrib with potato puree and caramelized winter vegetables for $24 and Steak Frites, a grilled flat iron steak with truffle fries, onion marmalade and red wine sauce for $24.

The Lift also served a delicious hot breakfast daily from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The Lift’s breakfast menu includes Golden Malted Waffles with Berries and Almond Granola for $13.50, Irish Oat Porridge with almonds, flax seed, Colorado honey and solar dried fruit for $10.50 and Steak &  Eggs with Adobo Marinated Skirt Steak, blacks beans, mole negro, breakfast potatoes and toast for $18.50. Beaver Creek Food & Wine

Foodies will be flocking to the Vail Valley this weekend for the amazing Beaver Creek Food & Wine Festival, four days of cooking demonstrations, innovative wine and spirits events, gourmet wine pairing dinners and of course fabulous skiing! Vilar Center

It’s a busy week of hot stars at Beaver Creek’s Vilar Center! On Wednesday night, Marc Cohn – the legend behind “Walking In Memphis” – will play tracks from his latest album, “Listening Booth: 1970” as well as many of his past Grammy Award-winning hits. Then on Thursday, funny man and Academy Award-winning actor Robin Williams will perform along with comic David Steinberg. Disco Skate Night

Live Music in the Lobby

Beaver Creek Family Snowshoe Tours

This Thursday, Beaver Creek will host one of its complimentary Family Snowshoe Tours from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Beaver Creek Nordic Sports Center, located in the Strawberry Park building next to the Strawberry Park Express Chairlift #12. Open to families and explorers age 6 and up, enjoy a guided stroll through starlit snowfields, followed by hot cocoa and cookies.

Held at McCoy’s in Beaver Creek Village, the Family Carnival features games, DJ, dancing, raffle prizes, 2 balloon drops and much more! Winter Solstice Celebration at Studio Anjali

Please join Studio Anjali at our Athletic Club for a special Winter Solstice Celebration this Friday, Dec. 21^st from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This Winter Solstice celebration – free and open to the community - is a chance to gather with friends, renew your spirit and honor the sacredness of life. Studio Anjali will transform itself into a cathedral of light for this special candlelit ceremony designed to usher us along our individual and communal paths. Led by Studio Anjali instructor Suzanne Oliver, we will share poetry and stories of Solstice tidings and celebrate the people in our lives and the breath that we breathe, while releasing the things that no longer serve us. Please join us to laugh, play and gather in peace as the Earth moves back towards the light. Following the ceremony, everyone is invited to gather at Cima to share hot chocolate or cider as we warm ourselves by the fire.

Beaver Creek Thursday Night Lights

This week one of Beaver Creek’s most-loved traditions returns for the season: Thursday Night Lights. Skiers and snowboarders (Level 5 and up) are invited to participate in the glow ski parade down to Beaver Creek Village, followed by a spectacular fireworks finale. Ice Skating in Beaver Creek Village

Enjoy ice skating under the lights on the Black Family Ice Rink in Beaver Creek Village! The rink is open daily from noon to 9 p.m., a perfect outing for families and couples of all ages! After taking a few turns, cozy up at one of the fire pits surrounding the rink with a mug of piping hot cocoa. Birds of Prey World Cup

Beaver Creek is gearing up to host the men’s World Alpine Ski Championships in 2015, and what better way to experience these amazing athletes first-hand than at this weekend’s Birds of Prey World Cup races. The 2012 lineup includes Downhill, Super G and Giant Slalom – the only domestic stop for the U.S. men on one of the world’s toughest courses. All World Cup races and festivities are free and open to the public.

Every race counts leading up to the 2015 World Alpine Championships – let's cheer on the U.S. men’s alpine team as they go for gold!

Kids Club Open for Winter Season

The Westin Kids Club is open again for the season! Opens to kids age 5 – 12, the Kids Club Winter hours are Sunday-Thursday from noon to 7 p.m. and Friday & Saturday from noon to 9 p.m. We also offer a Ski School Carpool Program, which meets at the Kids Club daily at 8 a.m. The cost is $30 and reservations are required a 24 hours before your child’s lesson. We will then pick your child up, give them a snack and drop them off at 4:30 p.m. New this year: We’re offering the Ski School Carpool PLUS! Extend your pick-up time to 7 p.m. for just $55 total!

For teens, The Westin Riverfront offers the 7430 Teen Program. We’ve teamed up with Beaver Creek Loves Teens to offer the following fun, supervised outings:

Twilight Snowshoe & Pizza Party - Dec. 26, Jan 2, Feb 18, March 25 & April 1

• A guided snowshoe trek after sundown lets teens experience the mountain in a whole different light. Teens can meet and mingle as they explore the mountain, followed by pizza in the Nordic Center. Snowshoe equipment and headlamps provided. Dinner included with registration. Cost: $35.00 

Teen Trick Class @ the Edwards Anti-Gravity Center - Dec. 27, Jan 3, Feb 21, March 28, April 4

• Teens can test their limits in the all-new anti-gravity center in the Edwards field house.  This state-of-the-art trampoline center is a fun new training facility where teens can test out new ski and snowboard tricks, flips and stunts. Certified instructors will teach a 45 minute trick class followed by free time to bounce around. After the lesson, we’ll head over to Marble Slab for ice cream. Registration includes transportation and ice cream. Cost: $50.00 

Teen Tubing @ Vail’s Adventure Ridge - Dec. 28, Jan 4, Feb 19, March 19, March 26 and April 2

• Let’s head over to Vail for some good old fashioned tubing hill fun! Registration includes transportation and tubing hill ticket. Food is not provided but can be purchased at Eagle’s Nest. Cost: $50.00

The 7430 Teen Lounge will be open during Cima’s Après Ski on Fridays and Saturdays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. when we are not going on an off-site excursion.

Beaver Creek Opening Day

It’s time to ski! Beaver Creek Resort opens for the 2012-2013 ski season this Wednesday, with the Centennial Express Lift firing up a 9 a.m. See you on the mountain!

And after a great first day, be sure to grab a cookie as part of Beaver Creek’s 9^th annual Beaver Creek Chocolate Chip Cookie Competition. The top five recipes will compete for bragging rights as the official cookie recipe for the season. Judging begins at 2 p.m. on the Beaver Creek Plaza.

Athletic Club Round Robin Open House

Gratitude Series at Studio Anjali

Studio Anjali is hosting a Gratitude Series on each Sunday this month from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. This week’s class is “You said Thank You, but what did you mean?” with Surya Trobaugh, Tara Goike, Emily Moyer & Tanya Miller. This session will explore a series of playful poses that will align with the body’s intelligence to feel grateful and a guided meditation to experience it’s true meaning.
