Run with a View 5K on June 1st
We are excited to be celebrating National Running Day with the 2nd annual Westin Riverfront Run with a View 5K on Wednesday, June 1st.
Free and open to the public, this 5K walk/run will leave from our Gondola Plaza at noon.
Join Run Concierge Tamara Donelson and Athletic Club Supervisor Heather Pugh on the course, which will go west on the Eagle River bike path, around Nottingham Lake, then back to end at The Westin Riverfront for refreshments.
Along the way, be sure to take in the gorgeous Vail Valley views and look for the “Insta-worthy” photo locations where you can snap a picture and post it on social media for a chance to win a variety of great prizes. Participants need to “tag” the Westin Riverfront at #ACWfit to be entered to win.

Maya Easter Brunch Celebration

Studio Anjali offering 2 Restorative Yoga Classes on Sunday, March 20th
Give your body a chance to welcome spring and recover from another active winter with a special Restorative Yoga Class at our Studio Anjali on Sunday, March 20thfrom 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. or 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Unwind your body and mind into a blissful union of rest, rejuvenation and clarity with this centering practice. Using soft music, a warm room, bolster and yoga blankets, let us guide you through a series of comfortable yoga poses that will invite healing and calmness into your being.
Open to all levels of yogis, the practice will be led by Tara Goike, who has been teaching yoga in the Vail Valley since 2003 and has more than 500 hours of yoga teacher training.

Herradura Tequila Dinner on March 12th
Maya is thrilled to be welcoming Ruben Aceves of Casa Herradura - one of Mexico’s most historic and renowned tequila producers - on Saturday, March 12th for a special Tequila Tasting & Dinner featuring five of Herradura’s 100% blue agave tequilas, including two bottles of Maya’s signature blend.
This exclusive evening will feature a special Mexican menu created by Maya Executive Chef Kevin Delonay, including:
- Tlacoyo de Cordero – Braised lamb with jicama salad & chile morita

Lead the Pack Swim Clinic with Josiah Middaugh
Join us on March 5th for the Lead the Pack Swim Stroke Clinic with our Resident Triathlete World Champion Josiah Middaugh on Saturday, March 5th. Open to the public, this clinic is designed to help swimmers reduce drag, streamline their stroke and have a more efficient kick. The clinic will be held from 9 a.m. – noon with 1.5 hours of classroom instruction followed by a group lesson. Each participant will also enjoy 1 hour of private instruction with Middaugh over that weekend.

Josiah Middaugh named Resident Triathlete World Champion at The Westin Riverfront
We are thrilled to announce that local professional triathleteJosiah Middaugh – the current XTERRA World Champion –is now serving as our Resident Triathlete World Champion.
Middaugh joins ski racer Mikaela Shiffrin, who serves as our Resident Gold Medalist.
An 11-time XTERRA USA National Champion and 6-time USSSA National Snowshoe Champion, Middaugh is well known throughout the Vail Valley as an elite level, multi-disciplined athlete. On top of leading the Athletic Club’s Master Swim program, he coaches more than 50 athletes nationwide through his Middaugh Coaching.
Middaugh will be holding a variety of special events here at The Westin Riverfront, including lectures and workshops for Athletic Club members and resort guests.
“We are thrilled to offer our resort guests and Athletic Club members an exclusive chance to interact with this top endurance athlete,” said Westin Riverfront General Manager Kristen Pryor. “Josiah is amazing to work with because he is so passionate and able to connect with athletes of all levels and aspirations.”
Middaugh holds a Masters Degree in Human Movement, a Bachelors Degree in Health Promotion and Rehabilitation and is a certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He lives with his wife and three children in the Vail Valley.
“I pride myself on integrity, humbleness, sportsmanship and hard work,” said Middaugh. “I have a profound love for endurance sports and I try to always remain approachable, especially to amateur athletes in the sport in my role as a coach, trainer and fellow athlete on the course.”
Middaugh will compete in the USA Cycling Fat Bike National Championship later this month, the XTERRA Costa Rica and Argentina races next month, the GOPRO Mountain Games here in Vail in June, the XTERRA Beaver Creek Championship Race in July and the XTERRA World Championships in October. Love Is In the AIR event Feb. 10th
The Athletic Club at The Westin is launching its newly renovated Movement Studio and new programming – including AIReal Yoga™, TRX and KO - on Wednesday, Feb. 10thwith a special Love is in the AIR event.
Held from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., Athletic Club members and the public are invited to demo our new Movement Studio class concepts, meet the Athletic Club team members and enjoy healthy snacks!
The Athletic Club is excited to be the Vail Valley’s first studio to offer a dedicated aerial yoga program. Several AIReal Yoga™ classes will be available weekly, with a $20 fee for drop-ins or 10-class punch cards available for $150. The classes are free for Athletic Club members.

Maya is thrilled to once again be hosting a special Tequila Tasting & Dinner with Chef Richard Sandoval on Friday, Feb. 5th.

Nature at Night Guest Lecture Series
We are very excited to be continuing our partnership with Vail Valley’s Walking Mountains Science Center to bring Nature at Night programs to the resort this ski season.
Nature at Night will be held on Thursday evenings from 4 p.m. – 5 p.m. in The Westin Riverfront Lobby. Topics for the weekly interactive lectures range from astronomy to the different types of birds and animals found here in the Vail Valley to the science of snow.
