Birds of Prey Beaver Creek is once again hosting The Audi Birds of Prey World Cup this weekend - don’t miss this amazing chance to see World Cup championship contenders on their home turf! On Friday, enjoy the Men’s Downhill, on Saturday check out the Men’s Super G and on Sunday try the Men’s Giant Slalom. On Friday at 5 p.m. the Beaver Creek Sports in Beaver Creek Village will be hosting members of the U.S. Men’s Ski Team for an autograph session. Vail Valley Foundation Black Diamond Ball
We’re very excited to be hosting the Vail Valley Foundation’s annual Black Diamond Ball this Friday! It’s going to be a busy holiday weekend here at The Westin Riverfront! Beaver Creek kicks off the 2011-2012 ski season this Wednesday, with lifts opening at 9 a.m. After a great first day on the slopes, head to the Beaver Creek Plaza for the 8th annual Beaver Creek Chocolate Cookie Competition, where five finalists will compete for bragging rights to be the official cookie recipe served this season at Beaver Creek. Come by to sample these delicious snacks!
Westin Riverfront Turkey Trot
Start your Thanksgiving off right at the Athletic Club at The Westin’s annual Turkey Trot! The race starts at 8 a.m. and is a 5K or 10K Fun Run, with families of all ages encouraged to participate. Dogs and costumes are welcome! After the race, please join us for a Community Yoga Class from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Donations for the Salvation Army of Vail are appreciated, either kids winter clothing of $15. See you there!
Thanksgiving at Cima
Make your reservations now to enjoy a delicious Traditional Thanksgiving Dinner at Cima on Thursday, Nov. 24th. This year's menu includes Oven Roasted Turkey or Braised Beef Short Ribs, all served with traditional sides plus a lavish dessert buffet. Holiday Tree Lighting Get into the holiday spirit with Beaver Creek’s special Tree Lighting celebration this Friday, including carolers, fireworks, a gingerbread competition and a visit from Santa! The party starts at 6 p.m. in the Beaver Creek Village and will be followed by free ice skating on the Black Family Ice Rink from 6:45 p.m. to 9 p.m. and free family holiday films at the Vilar Center starting at 7 p.m., including “Shrek the Halls.” |

Introducing Cima!
We are very pleased to announce that Cima, a Contemporary Latin Kitchen by Chef Richard Sandoval, officially opens today at The Westin Riverfront. Cima – which is Spanish for peak or summit – is the latest concept by Richard Sandoval Restaurants, which operates 30 restaurants worldwide. Infused with Sandoval’s vibrant Latin flavors, the lunch, dinner and Latin brunch offerings at Cima are replete with fresh market produce, sustainable seafood, locally raised meats and specialty products from local purveyors. Hora Feliz (happy hour) will be offered daily with selections of Tequila, Pisco, Cachaca and fresh, hand muddled cocktails.

Vail Opening Day
The 2011-2012 ski season kicks into high gear this week with the opening of Vail Mountain on Friday, Nov. 18th! Four lifts will open at 9 a.m. – Born Free Express, the Little Eagle Life, the Vista Bahn and the Eagle Bahn Gondola. The forecast calls for snow this week – should be a great way to start the season. See you on the mountain!
Colorado Hotel & Lodging Association Outstand Employees Award
We’re thrilled to share that two of our associates – Brett Donelson and Tamara Donelson - were recently honored with an Outstanding Employees Award from Colorado Hotel & Lodging Association in its 2011 Stars of the Industry Awards.
Brett and Tam Donelson have both been personal trainers at The Athletic Club at The Westin since the resort opened in 2008. They were honored for their work in creating the Ells Angels and Girl PowHER, a program for underprivileged Vail Valley girls designed to help develop self-confidence through mountain biking and yoga. More than 30 girls are now participating in the program.
“To see the change in these girls has been astonishing – their improved overall fitness has caused their self-confidence to flourish,” said Warren Schick, Director of the Athletic Club at The Westin. “Brett and Tam have worked so hard to get this program launched, from coordinating yoga instructors to finding sponsors to donate equipment to coaching and motivating the girls. We’re extremely proud of them.”

Happy Halloween! We're so glad that's it's almost November - because that means the ski season is just around the corner! Vail Mountain opens for the season on Nov. 18th and Beaver Creek opens on Nov. 23rd. Hope you're working on your ski conditioning so you're ready for another epic season here in the Vail Valley!
Movember
In celebration of Movember - where thousands of men nationwide grow mustaches to help raise funds and awareness for men's cancers - The Athletic Club at The Westin is hosting special Movember benefit group classes on three Saturdays in November - Nov. 5, Nov. 12 and Nov. 19. All funds raised through Movember support men's health programs, including the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG, the Lance Armstrong Foundation. The Athletic Club at The Westin's Movember events will be held on three Saturdays - Nov. 5, Nov. 12 and Nov. 19 - and include two group fitness classes:
